Welcome to the South Cape Section of the Mountain Club of South Africa!
We are located in the Garden Route and are geographically widespread. We are concentrated in the George, Sedgefield, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay areas, but have members from as far as Mossel Bay to The Crags near Plettenberg Bay, and as far inland as Oudtshoorn and even further into the Great Karoo.
We have the Outeniqua, Tsitsikamma, Swartberg, Langeberg and Kamanassie mountains in our backyard, as well as numerous coastal hikes that we visit often, so are spoilt for choice as far as hiking and climbing go. Apart from the well known routes, we are always looking for new places to explore.
We have an informal social get together every month (except January) at the Sedgefield Bowling Club. These socials are held on the first Thursday of the month, with a start time of 18H30, and feature slide shows of recent outings or other interesting topics.
As a Section of the Mountain Club of South Africa, we subscribe to their objectives, and are proud to be members of a well respected organisation which is more than a century old.
