The absolutely perfect weather and the magnificence of the area attracted 15 hikers.
Starting from an apple farm in Waboomskraal, we headed up the dirt track through farmland to reach the boundary of the Doring River Wilderness area. Although not entirely Protea flowering season, the fynbos did not disappoint. It’s an amazingly beautiful and unspoiled reserve in the Outeniqua mountains and for very little effort the trail takes one very quickly into stunning mountain scenery.

We chose to do the circuit in a clockwise direction heading first down the track and at the turnoff junction were delighted to note and enjoy the freshly cut path which took us all the way back up the hill for a lunch stop at the top. The weather was perfect for hiking and all in all a fabulous day out in the hills.
Thank you to all participants!
