Dear all

With our May Social having to be cancelled due to inclement weather there was no opportunity to give a short report back on the MCSA’s National Meet, hosted by the EP Section. An article did appear in the local newspaper, however, which can be found here: https://share.google/1kWqD3JyEyatBhhib and rather more information can be found on the National website here: https://mcsa.org.za/2026/05/06/national-meet-2026-eastern-province-section-bucklands-farm/

The National AGM and National Committee meeting were held during this meet. If any of you would like any details re these meetings, please just let me know.

The MCSA is attempting to extend its reach and influence by deploying social media. You can find the Club at:

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mountainclubsouthafrica/

Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mountainclubsouthafrica/

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/mountainclubsouthafrica/

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoqjQ19c8kXGNPjdDtl090w

For those of you making use of the Docwize system to access MCSA journals, you’ll be pleased to know that the rather irritating password system for each downloaded document has now been removed.
I see that the new Meets WhatsApp group has already attracted 26 members, and our president, Ed, is the first to make use of it; the first of many, I trust. Just a reminder that leaders who use this system to advertise their meets do not need to submit meet reports, but merely send a message to Karin afterwards to let her know the number of participants.

And crucially, in these days of high fuel prices: as announced at last week’s Social, until further notice meet leaders can claim their petrol costs from our Treasurer!

‘til another time
