Attending the hike were – front left – Clive Louw, Gary Thompson, Valarie Thompson, Sandra Louw, Guest Gerda Forbes (previous member), back row Gillian Forbes, Naomi (Mimi) and Edward Shuttleworth
The Tierkloof hike is in the Gamkaberg Nature Reserve, a small but well run reserve, with limited accommodation on the trail, the huts only sleeping 8 guests at a time. This easy but beautiful hike can easily be added more often to the program.
The trail is well marked with plenty of signs and a clear path, it goes up the Tierkloof which is filled with fabulous cliff faces, including a small overhang cave , the kloof is a haven of flowers and bird life.

The kloof section is 7km after which the trail splits – a circular up to the top and Oukraal huts and a down return back to the kloof. The trail tends to be quite short at 14km and 12 return but this gives you ample time to enjoy the scenery.

Oukraal has 4 small huts with 2 beds in each with a communal small kitchen area in the middle.
