After a rocky start we were finally booked in and ready for the walk…

L to R: Cheryl Divine, Greg Divine, Saartjie van der Merwe, Marie Mulder (temporary member), Janet Moore, Edward Kay-Shuttleworth, Mimi Kay-Shuttleworth, Som Kruse and Pierre Kruse in front.

There is a short forest walk from parking to the steep descent to the Homtini river and Drupkelders. The Drupkelders have wonderful swimming pools of soft mountain water. Some of us went straight into the water while others opted to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

After a quick breakfast four of us swam out to the waterfall that is just around a corner in the kloof, Saartjie was the only one brave enough to swim under the strong falling water. We had a short exploration swim to admire the kloof walls (where I practiced tying shoelaces for Saartjie while treading water) and soon returned back to the rest of the group.

The return was up the steep slope to the top of the valley. By 11:00 it was already getting hot and humid. We all had a rest in the shade before leaving this magical part of the Southern Cape.
