A lucky thirteen of us set off from the Beervlei parking lot at 08h45 on Saturday 19 February. The sun was already hot, and we briskly walked along the road and headed off on the forest path.

It would seem that maintenance of this trail is a thing of the past, so climbing over or under an assortment of horizontally-oriented vegetation was a regular occurrence. Lush ferns made the walk a full-body experience from time to time.

The spot where the path crosses the jeep track was where we had our tea-stop, and from here several of the party made their way back to the cars.
The main party then continued through the forest, later coming out into the bright sunshine to head down to the river for a welcome swim. After lunch it was up the dusty slope and back into the green coolth. To reduce the amount of groveling required we followed the jeep track back to the access gate, and marched down the road to the closed office.
A very pleasant outing in the company of Dave, Erich, Wolf, Werner, Gillian, Peter, Marion, Johan, Christelle, Jaco, Francine and Sandy.
