This is a spectacular sustained full scramble route to the most prominent peak overlooking Waboomskraal and Camferskloof.

The photo below was taken from the N2 in Waboomskraal looking north and shows the ”knife-edge” ridge to be followed.

The party of 12, left to right: Tony Bowen (meet leader), Andre Du Plesses, Andre Brink, Janine Smith, Phillippa Barnard, Pierre and Som Kruise, Judy Woodgate, Morne Swardt**, Analyn Knight, Greg Wright**, Dennis Lange. (** temporary member).

The route is on private land and not open to the public. Our access was granted by special permission.

The route starts with a steep ascent through pine forest.

Once on the ridge, Tony is shown by Judy how to point out the destination.

The knife edge ridge is soon reached. This is a sustained scramble, with exposure on both sides and requires great care.

The weather was perfect for our hike. Everyone was in great spirits and enjoying the challenge.

The summit peak is reached after a final scramble.

We returned the same way… in reverse in places.

Stats: 6.2 km 7 ½ hours. A slow pace given the terrain.

Thanks for all who joined this unique scramble hike and maintained a high standard of safety.
