The Cape Dune Molerat trail is a hidden gem in the Rondevlei valley. An easy circular walk that we started from the Swartvlei end and proceeded up the hill back towards the parks board offices along the sand dune ridge through beautiful dune fynbos, where we saw orchids and coastal thicket.

Bonathea speciosa

The views looking back from the ridge towards Swartvlei are spectacular.

To the west you can see Rondevlei and Langvlei with George and Cradock peaks in the distance

At the top of the hill

We dropped down to the railway line then up through beautiful indigenous forest.

Now at the furthest point we returned along the paths and boardwalks that follow the Wolwerivier back along the shoreline to the jetty at Swartvlei.

Truly a bird watchers paradise.

The weather was perfect for this relaxed morning walk.
