Four MCSA members attended the Kransberg Saddle hike.

L to R: Janine Smith, Bruce Arnett, Gillian Forbes and Kenneth Willemse

We set off at a good pace passing three other groups of hikers/backpackers who were also enjoying a lovely sunny day out in the mountains.

After passing the Tierkop hut Bruce decided that a 20km hike was too short and ran on adding Scurveberg and Cradock peak to his day. The rest of us continued up to the Kransberg Saddle, where Kenneth stayed to enjoy the view and sun while Janine, myself and Bruce who had returned went on to tackle Kransberg.

Kransberg had a mixture of rocks and fynbos with lots of fallen/burnt trees making it a fairly difficult bushwack. Finally we made it up to the lower of the split peaks, Janine and I decided to return to the saddle, Bruce went on to the higher peak.

A Total of 21 km and 1000m vertical gain resulting in a good day out in the mountains.
