After the first cold big front of the autumn, bringing snow to the Swartberg and Western cape we set out on a crisp and crystal clear day. It was perfect hiking weather and the rain has made everything sparkle. It also compacted the loose sand roads in the reserve making for a nice firm surface.

The hike started up the road to pick up the Blombos section first, returning along the beach to Platbank at low tide. The reserve has done good maintenance on the paths and cleared up the overgrown parts.
It took 5 hours and we did 14.5 km (approx… – depending on whose GPS you believe).

Truly a perfect day out. Thank you to everyone who joined.
