Allow me to start with a gentle nag: most of you have now sent Werner (wfrei.sedge@gmail.com) a picture of your happy smiling face for the new electronic membership card system, but not all of you . . . Please do comply with this request soon, since as from the end of this year there’ll be no more ‘stickers’ issued to keep your old physical card in issue.
Do remember the WhatsApp group that’s now been made available for arranging meets, particularly those at short notice. Some of you may not be aware that there is also a WhatsApp group for climbers. Details may be found on our website: https://southcape.mcsa.org.za/activities/
One of the MCSA’s objectives is to ‘initiate and support actions towards protecting the natural beauty and wilderness character of mountains and to promote their effective conservation management.’ With some funds that were made available by members who attended the Pietersrivier meet, topped up from the Section, we have purchased a suitable small chainsaw (with safety kit) to increase the effectiveness of our hacking activities. Do contact me if you would like access to this.
As is our custom there was no social scheduled for this month, but there’s a real treat planned for August. Janet will be in contact with you in due course.
