The only peaks visible today from my perch in Singapore are skyscrapers, which aren’t of much interest to me but may be attractive to Alex Honnold (if you haven’t watched it already, you may wish to take a gander at his latest exploit in Taipei: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXiEp_GGSpg). Time’s running out to get your 20 Peaks in the 20th Year submissions in – don’t leave it too late!
I do hope that some of you have booked to attend this year’s National Meet. There’s been enormous interest, and bookings have already closed, except to be put on the waiting list.
Our AGM is scheduled for Thursday 5 March, and that’s when the Section’s Committee for the new year will be elected. Please do give careful thought as to whether you will be prepared to serve your Section by taking part in the Committee’s work in some role. Don’t hesitate to contact me should you wish to discuss this.

I thought I would quote from a recent newsletter from the JHB Section:
While the mountains may be what first draw us to the MCSA it’s often the people who keep us coming back. The social side of the Club plays a vital role in building connection, trust and shared experience — whether it’s conversations around a campfire, laughter after a long hike, or friendships formed over a post-meet coffee. Club socials offer a relaxed way for new members to find their footing, for long-standing members to reconnect, and for ideas, stories and experiences to be shared.
Sadly I won’t be back in ZA in time to attend this month’s social at the Sedgefield Bowling Club, but it looks to be a superb evening, which I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
