Greetings from the Swartberg, where we’ve just enjoyed a superb outing under Greg D’s leadership. Spoiler alert – when the meet report comes out, those of you who weren’t on the meet are likely to suffer pangs of envy as you look at the pictures.

The National AGM was uneventful (usually a good sign for a club), and a range of issues were discussed at the National Committee meeting that followed. There’s increasing concern about the way social media is being used to publicise excursions, with the risk of jeopardising some of the access arrangements that allow us into many of the mountainous areas that we enjoy. A National-level policy on this has been developed, but at the least members are encouraged to be sensible and sensitive should they indulge in posting accounts of their exploits.

I was encouraged to see that, of all the sections, South Cape has close to the highest uptake in using the Docwize platform to access MCSA journals, new, old and ancient. If you’re not already enjoying the many interesting tales told on this platform, you’re missing out.
