Dear all
A great turnout at Thursday’s social, when we were regaled by Clive with images and tales of derring-do in the Andes (and why pasta isn’t useful at high altitudes), before enjoying a range of soups and accompaniments from the Ladybergers.
October, as you’ll know from the latest meet sheet, is a time of multi-day trips to the Groot Winterhoek, Koue Bokkeveld and Cederberg. If you’re heading for the last area, as we are, or even hope to in the future, you may wish to know that Peter Slingsby’s latest book is just out, and is focused on the area. You can read about it here Cederberg: The Book, by Peter Slingsby , and order it here: Cederberg the book (A5) – Tracks4Africa
Many of you enjoyed Colleen Browne’s trail running presentation at the June social. Here’s an update on the epic that she told us she had planned: https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=122170706822579871&id=61567396138371&mibextid=wwXIfr&rdid=pIiC92yCywjhLGEd#
Your Committee is looking to move our current manual membership management system onto an electronic version. IT-related skills are at a premium in the Committee, so if any member of the Section is prepared to assist with this transition please do drop me a line in the next few days.
Meet leaders are a little scarce right now, I see, so now that the weather is warming up those of you with ideas for walks and trips are encouraged to contact Karin accordingly!
‘til another time
